Marion Vittecoq and Michel Gauthier-Clerc o-authored the opening chapter “Au-delà des pathogènes, l’écologie de la santé au service de la conservation en Camargue” (Beyond pathogens, health ecology at the service of conservation in the Camargue) of the book entitled “Sortir des crises – One Health en pratiques” (Exit from crises – One Health in practice) published by Quae.
The One Health approach highlights the interdependencies between human health, animal health and ecosystem health. Thanks to the collaboration of researchers and practitioners from multiple disciplines ranging from philosophy to ecology and political science, this book offers a concrete vision of the implementation of this approach through the reading of health issues and problems in a globalized world. The opening chapter reviews the progressive development of studies applying the One Health approach carried out by the Tour du Valat since the early 2000s. This book is intended for professionals and students interested in public health issues, health crises and the One Health approach.
