The Tour du Valat exceptionally opens its doors to the public on 2 February this year on the occasion of World Wetlands Day (WWD) in order to make all generations aware of the need to preserve wetlands in the Camargue as elsewhere.
Every year, WWD celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the Ramsar Convention for the Protection of Wetlands on 2 February 1971 in Iran, of which Luc Hoffmann, founder of the Tour du Valat in 1954, was one of the main instigators.
This year’s theme was “Wetlands and Biodiversity”.
On this occasion, Brigitte Poulin, researcher at the Tour du Valat, presented a conference entitled “Tribute to biodiversity: birds”, which can be viewed in video (in French) by clicking on the image below.
