It was an honour for Tour du Valat and a pleasure to welcome the team from Wetlands International in Camargue for their Annual Meeting. A great opportunity for interactions with Wetlands International leaders from all continents.
The Wetlands International annual meeting was hosted at Tour du Valat from 31 October to 4 November 2022. Directors from around the world came together with thematic leads under the leadership of CEO Jane Madgwick to assess progress in implementing our Strategic Intent, discuss strategies for upscaling impact and to plan their action for the coming year. They also met and exchanged lessons and ideas with DG Jean Jalbert and Programme Director Raphael Billé and experienced the Camargue wetlands and wildlife in the company of Marc Thibault, Christian Perennou and Thomas Galewski. .
In concluding the week, Jane Madgwick said:
“Tour du Valat was the perfect location to take stock of our work, to inspire us to think big, and remind us that partners are our most important asset in upscaling impact. A big thank you to all staff at Tour du Valat on behalf of Wetlands international.”
This meeting was also an opportunity to remember the long common past between the 2 organizations, Wetlands International (then called BIROE: “Bureau International de Recherche sur les Oiseaux d’Eau”) having been hosted for nearly a decade in the Camargue, at the initiative and under the dynamic leadership of Luc Hoffmann.
