In 2011, the agenda of the Tour du Valat will be very full: open house day, meetings, nature outings, conferences … there will be something for all tastes and all needs! We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you here.
Events open to the general public
* February: * February: on World Wetlands Day, the Tour du Valat opens its doors on Sunday 6 February from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (see the programme for the day here) (Free entrance)
* April/May:
- Nature outings at the Tour du Valat estate, guided by the Nature Guides Office (Bureau des Guides Naturalistes): Saturday 16 April (fossil dunes) and Saturday 14 May (temporary pools). Bookings on 04 90 97 19 72
- From 18 to 22 May for the Nature Fair, guided walks will be available at the Tour du Valat estate (free entrance)
* July: at the Envies Rhônements festival organised by the Ilotopie company, the Pheuillus – (a new species of vegetable beings in human form that appeared at the Tour du Valat estate this autumn) – will take off for their great migration.
Events targeting the scientific community
* September: on the 40th anniversary of the Ramsar Convention and the 20th anniversary of the MedWet Initiative, the Mediterranean Wetlands Observatory will produce its first report on the conditions and trends affecting wetland habitats around the Mediterranean basin.
* November: the next Seminar for Ramsar site managers will be held in the Camargue around 15 November
* December: the Tour du Valat, in close collaboration with CEFE-CNRS (Montpellier) and IMEP (Aix-Marseille) will launch a series of conferences with the theme “Conservation Sciences in the Mediterranean Region”, aimed at young researchers. The first conference will take place from 8 to 10 December 2011, at the Tour du Valat, Camargue, France.
