In response to the impact of climate change on nature, it is becoming essential for managers of natural areas to address this issue and integrate it into their management. Using the Natur’Adapt methodology, this project aims to support nature reserve managers in the PACA region in their process of adapting to climate change.

Project objectives

The main objective is to integrate climate change issues into the management of PACA nature reserves, using the Natur’Adapt methodology developed during the Natur’Adapt LIFE project in 2018-2023. The regional project will:

  • Raise the skills of PACA reserve managers on climate change and its impacts on nature;
  • Produce a climate change vulnerability diagnosis and a management adaptation plan for each participating site, which can then be integrated into the management document.
Networking is at the heart of this region-wide project, which brings together the managers of 14 sites and 11 organizations. By the end of the project, most of the region’s nature reserves will have a strategy for adapting to climate change, including all of PACA’s Regional Nature Reserves (RNR).

Actions & methodology

The project is a direct continuation of the work carried out during the Natur’Adapt LIFE project, led by RNF from 2018 to 2023. The actions planned in the project in PACA will therefore use the tools and methods developed during the LIFE project, such as the Natur’Adapt guide, the naturadapt.com platform or the Natur’Adapt COOC training course for managers. In this way, a climate change adaptation approach will be implemented in each reserve, leading to the production of a vulnerability diagnosis and a management adaptation plan.
