WWF France chose to inaugurate its new head office, called the “Luc Hoffmann Building”, in Pré Saint Gervais, very close to Paris on 23 January 2018 to commemorate what would have been Luc Hoffman’s 95th birthday.

Invited by Isabelle Autissier, the President of WWF France and its Director Pascal Canfin, Nicolas Hulot, ecological transition and solidarity minister, Vera Michalski-Hoffmann and Maja Hoffmann, the daughters of Luc Hoffmann, as well as many well-known figures attended the inauguration of this former industrial building that was renovated up to very high environmental performance standards using the latest technologies. It was a propitious moment to measure how far we have come, but also to acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead.

On this occasion, the vision and commitment of Luc Hoffmann, one of the founding members of WWF International, and the founder and long-time President of WWF France, were lauded. Before others, he made a steadfast commitment to what would become one of the key challenges today: the necessary reconciliation between People and Nature (learn more about Luc Hoffman [1]).

The partnership between WWF France and the Tour du Valat began in 1975 with the construction of an artificial islet for protecting the population of Greater Flamingos in the Camargue (learn more [2]). It is being continued today, in particular through the hydrological reconnection of the former Camargue saltworks with the sea, which has been co-managed by the Tour du Valat since 2012 (learn more [3]).
