This ambitious initiative leaves behind concrete tools and a strengthened regional momentum to face climate challenges. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Natur\u2019Adapt Sud was launched in July 2024 and coordinated by <strong>la Tour du Valat<\/strong> in collaboration with the Conservatory of Natural Areas of PACA. The project engaged 13 natural reserves (7 national and 6 regional) in Provence-Alpes-C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur. Its goal was clear: anticipate climate change in oder to adapt management practices in protected areas.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-49581 \" src=\"https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Carte_NAS_fondtransparent-e1771925879661.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"765\" height=\"607\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Carte_NAS_fondtransparent-e1771925879661.png 1413w, https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Carte_NAS_fondtransparent-e1771925879661-300x238.png 300w, https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Carte_NAS_fondtransparent-e1771925879661-1024x812.png 1024w, https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Carte_NAS_fondtransparent-e1771925879661-640x507.png 640w, https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Carte_NAS_fondtransparent-e1771925879661-768x609.png 768w, https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Carte_NAS_fondtransparent-e1771925879661-120x95.png 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 639px) 98vw, (max-width: 1199px) 64vw, 765px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>A quantified assessment reflecting the scale of the work<\/h3>\n<p>The project has resulted in an enhancement of the teams\u2019 skills and the production of strategic documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>13 vulnerability and opportunity assessments related to climate change,<\/strong> providing a detailed analysis of climate impacts on habitats and species in each reserve<\/li>\n<li><strong>13 adaptation plans developed<\/strong> (one per reserve), defining adaptation strategies and planned measures for both short and long term<\/li>\n<li><strong>28 professionals trained on climate issues<\/strong> through the Natur\u2019Adapt training program (COOC), strengthening the internal expertise of managing organizations<\/li>\n<li><strong>More than 150 working meetings<\/strong> and personalized support sessions with managers<\/li>\n<li><strong>Broad stakeholder consultation:<\/strong> nearly 100 local actors (farmers, fishers, scientists, elected officials, tourism and fire prevention actors) were involved in the discussions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The strength of territorial facilitation and networking<\/h3>\n<p>Beyond technical outputs, Natur\u2019Adapt Sud structured an unprecedented regional network dedicated to the exchange of best practices. The project\u2019s adaptation strategy now focuses on strengthening ecological resilience and adaptive water management, aiming to anticipate and support changes in species assemblages such as wintering waterfowl.<\/p>\n<h3>Looking ahead: from planning to action<\/h3>\n<p>The project\u2019s conclusion marks the beginning of the implementation phase. Adaptation plans will gradually be integrated into the official management plans of the reserves.<\/p>\n<p>The major challenge now lies in sustaining this regional dynamic.
