Jalbert<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This article was published in open access by the Ecosystems and People journal in April 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Mediterranean is a unique region in the way its natural and cultural richness has co-developed in the last centuries, if not longer.<\/p>\n<p>General analyses about the state and tendancies of Mediterranean ecosystems and human welfare do not always succeed in taking this complexity into account.<\/p>\n<p>It results in an informative bias for the decision makers leading them to neglect the Mediterranean, such as in the Intergovernmental Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipbes.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IPBES<\/a>) reports.<\/p>\n<p>The Tour du Valat has contributed to this article that shows the way the distinctive elements of the Mediterranean nature contributions to human welfare are often not considered in the analyses, and how it can be improved.<\/p>\n<p>This study has been conducted in the framework of the workgroup on ecosystem services of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.es-partnership.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ecosystem Service Partnership<\/a>, which is coordinated by the Tour du Valat.<\/p>\n<p>You can access it in open access on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/26395916.2019.1598499\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">journal website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bibliographical reference:\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"authors\">Mario V.
