{"id":10833,"date":"2013-08-09T16:46:14","date_gmt":"2013-08-09T14:46:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/uncategorized\/initiative-1-ramsar-france-a-new-association-for-people-working-in-wetlands\/"},"modified":"2017-11-18T19:36:40","modified_gmt":"2017-11-18T18:36:40","slug":"initiative-1-ramsar-france-a-new-association-for-people-working-in-wetlands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/en\/newsletter-articles\/initiative-1-ramsar-france-a-new-association-for-people-working-in-wetlands\/","title":{"rendered":"Initiative 1 &#8211; \u2018Ramsar France\u2019: A new association for people working in wetlands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong> France has designated 36 sites as \u201cwetlands of international importance\u201d since it signed the Ramsar convention in 1986; however, it must be said that this \u2018Ramsar label\u2019 is generally undervalued by the local stakeholders, and that no real active networking takes place between the different sites. <\/strong><br \/>\n\t\u00a0<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"145\" style=\"width: 250px; float: left; height: 182px;\" width=\"200\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" class=\"image-style-petite-image-contenu\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/signature_de_la_charte_ramsar_medium.jpg\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In response to these observations, wetland stakeholders mobilised to found an association with the following goals: <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>popularise and promote the Ramsar label;<\/li>\n<li>improve the management of current Ramsar sites;<\/li>\n<li>create the necessary conditions for exchanging and sharing experiences, and producing knowledge nationally and internationally;<\/li>\n<li>be proactive, proposing ideas to wetland stakeholders in France and abroad;<\/li>\n<li>promote Ramsar sites with regard to all people, including socio-economic players, and local authorities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> J\u00e9r\u00f4me Bignon, a deputy of the Somme Department in France, is the President of this association, which is a world-wide pioneer in its field. It is based on a charter aimed to define the cooperation between the French government and the Ramsar France Association for the sustainable and partnership-based management of wetlands of international importance.
