{"id":10815,"date":"2013-08-09T16:42:12","date_gmt":"2013-08-09T14:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/uncategorized\/initiative-1-morocco-waterbirds-and-wetlands-international-days\/"},"modified":"2017-11-18T19:36:26","modified_gmt":"2017-11-18T18:36:26","slug":"initiative-1-morocco-waterbirds-and-wetlands-international-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tourduvalat.org\/en\/newsletter-articles\/initiative-1-morocco-waterbirds-and-wetlands-international-days\/","title":{"rendered":"Initiative 1 &#8211; Morocco, \u201cWaterbirds and Wetlands\u201d international days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Ben M\u2019sik Faculty of Sciences at Casablanca (Morocco), in partnership with the Research Group for the Protection of Birds \u2013 GREPOM \u2013 and the Moroccan High Commissariat for Water and Forests and Combating Desertification, organised its 6th \u201cinternational days\u201d conference on the theme \u201cscientific research for the conservation of Mediterranean wetlands. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"167\" style=\"line-height: 1.538em; width: 200px; height: 134px; float: left;\" width=\"250\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/initiative_maroc.jpg\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The involvement of numerous experts and young scientists from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Portugal, Spain, and France enabled participants to compare their points of view, share methods and diagnostic approaches, and assess the prospects for more fertile dialogue between researchers and conservation or development stakeholders. The main need identified was for a more transdisciplinary approach, in order better to apprehend the complexity of the interface between habitats. In addition, data gathering protocols need to be standardised and actively shared so as to fine-tune the understanding of how they evolve.
