This article has been published in open access in August 2015 in the Plos Pathogens journal.
It highlights the need for a multidisciplinary approach in order to study and resolve high-profile epidemics originating from animals (ie. zoonoses), such as the recent Ebola outbreak. Ecological ideas, in particular, need to be better taken into account.
