Restitution of the 1st phase of the national wetlands mapping project

The restitution symposium for the 1st research and development phase (2021-2022) of the national wetlands mapping project took place on February 16, 2023. National wetland pre-location data are now available for download.

Research and development project

Since 2021, this project initiated by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, and led by a multidisciplinary team made up of PatriNat, Inrae, Institut Agro Rennes-Angers, Université de Rennes 2 and Tour du Valat, has focused on wetland mapping.

This project aims to:

The project benefits from expertise in the human and social sciences, in partnership with water agencies and local authorities to ensure that the results are appropriated by local stakeholders.

These results provide shared knowledge to help better preserve wetlands.

Symposium on February 16, 2023

Organized as a webinar on February 16, 2023, the “Colloque de restitution du projet de cartographie nationale des milieux humides” was an opportunity to present the results of the first R&D phase of the project.

This symposium, the flagship event of WWD 2023, was an opportunity to bring together nearly 400 technical and scientific players interested in acquiring new knowledge on wetlands and in actions to preserve them, to present the methods used and the results obtained, and to discuss the possible appropriation of the project by local players.

A booklet [1] containing key information on national wetland mapping was published.

The webinar [2] was recorded and the presentations can be viewed online.

Anis Guelmami (Tour du Valat) and Sébastien Rapinel (Université de Rennes 2) presented key information on the results of habitat mapping and function assessment.
